Southern California First 5 Commissions Address Children's Most Unmet Health Care Need
Southern California's First 5 Commissions are tackling the health care needs of low-income children one tooth at a time.
According to an independently produced
research report, local
First 5 commissions have expended some $21 million and made quality oral health
care available to nearly a quarter of a million youngsters, or one out of every
11 children age 5 and under in the eight Southern California counties.
The first five years of life are critical to a child's development. These years shape a child's success in school and in life. First 5 San Diego educates and helps parents and others help children during these early years. We are committed to the vision that all San Diego children will enter kindergarten "Ready to Succeed."
