First 5 San Diego’s programs are designed to help ensure every child in San Diego enters school ready to succeed. One way we do that is to ensure children are healthy and developing to their full potential by providing San Diego family health centers.

First 5's Healthy Development Services provide new parent resources to help them learn about their child’s development and take steps, if needed, to get or keep them on track. The Healthcare Access program enrolls children and families in health insurance and teaches them how to use it. And, because a healthy mouth and teeth are critical to a child’s overall health, First 5's Oral Health program provides access to dental services.

Becoming a new parent can be exciting, fun, and overwhelming all at the same time. There is a massive amount of information new parents need to know before and during parenthood. First 5 San Diego is committed to assisting San Diego youth and family during the most critical years of parenting, ages 0-5. From newborns to toddlers, every child will experience several phases, transitions, and milestones. Crawling, weaning off breast milk, talking, walking, teething, and learning self-care are just some of the many milestones you and your baby will experience together. With First 5’s new parent resources, you will help prepare yourself for these exciting occurrences. Whether you are researching baby development, child safety, or diapering, First 5 San Diego has relevant information for you. We provide new parent resources, information, statistics, checklists, tips, and more for new parents to maximize their parenting experience.
