Helping families to get and use health insurance

Studies show that families with health insurance are healthier than families without it, but enrolling in health insurance can seem difficult. First 5 San Diego’s Healthcare Access program helps eligible families and pregnant women sign up for, use and stay enrolled in health insurance. Health insurance helps pay for routine care for children and adults as well as health conditions that are more serious.

First 5 San Diego’s Certified Application Assistants are experts in determining a family’s eligibility for programs such as Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM). Once families are enrolled in one of these programs, they are guided in accessing healthcare services, scheduling well-child visits, and immunizations and dental care.
